Individuals and corporate organisations have been advised to assist the police to build Transit Camps in all levels of Police Commands, including Local Government Police headquarters for newly posted Police personnel.

The newly posted Zone 9 Assistant Inspector General of Police, Mr. Hosea Karma, stated this in Umuahia North local government area, Abia State, at a reception organised to welcome him, by the Zone’s Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC).

The Dr. Ugochukwu Obi-led PCRC had appealed to the public on the Transit Camp, which attracted the attention of the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of Platinum Mortgage Bank Ltd., Dr. Emmanuel Mbaka.

Mbaka, at the reception announced his readiness to build the camp for the zone, which prompted the appeal from the AIG Karma to other people to emulate by extending the Transit Camp to other states the zone covers.

Recall that during Obi’s earlier tenure as the Chairman of the state PCRC, a Transit Camp was erected at the state Police headquarters and not long after he assumed duty at the zonal level, he again took up the campaign for building of Transit Camp at the Zonal Command level.

Speaking at the reception, Obi said the PCRC apart from assisting the Police to rid and prevent crime, also renders what he called welfare assistance to the Police.
