The primary aim of preaching the gospel is to win souls for the Lord. Sinners are in danger of hell, but they do not know, hence, the need to reach them with the gospel of our Lord Jesus. This is to avert the impending judgment hanging over them. This gospel should be preached in and out of season because of the exigency of the time.

It is so appalling that preachers have forgotten the urgency of the gospel and substituted it with sugarcoated messages that have no power to save a soul. Hell is real and has been prepared for the devil and his cohorts. Sinners are not insulated from the danger of hell if they fail to repent. Sin is cancerous! The weight of judgment that awaits sinners will ordinarily jolt a believer to vigorously preach the gospel with all doggedness it requires. The graphical picture of the torment sinners will go through in hell, should spur any serious minded believer to action.

Believers, who carelessly deny sinners the benefit of hearing the gospel, are the most wicked people. The Lord obviously will require their blood from their hands. Let us not be carried away with the outward beauty and display of affluence by sinners; they are spiritually hungry and need our help! This is because they are criminals in the balances of God waiting to be judged. They should be pitied, which is why you must preach the salvation message to them.

The horror of hell fire is indescribable; no word can match the pains sinners go through in hell! Liars, the fearful, murderers, adulterous, whoremongers, sorcerers, idolaters and the likes, will have their place in the lake of fire. Believers have the responsibility of telling sinners the truth and the danger of hell. Let them know that their generous giving and building of wonderful edifice for God cannot atone for their sin. No amount of kindness will appease the anger of God against sinners. The only antidote to sin is repentance and acceptance of Jesus Christ as Lord and personal Saviour.

Salvation is an experience; its not a religious exercise of going from one church to the other. Many people are deluded with the idea that identifying with a church means salvation. This is why believers should intensify effort to preach and make Jesus Christ popular on earth. Every preaching of a believer must have the content of salvation and righteousness. It must have the potency of deliberately leading a sinner to Jesus Christ. This is the hallmark of the gospel! The word of God should be preached not the opinions of men that have no power to save. The word of God is spirit and life. It has the power to save sinners.

We must make Jesus the centre of our message. Believers should not harp their messages on “bread and butter.” We must not preach to please sinners, but to bring them to Christ. There must be a positive effect of the gospel message preached to sinners. Like the Apostles of old, they preached and thousands of souls were converted. Their messages were not the enticing words of men’s wisdom, but with power and authority. In addition, preachers must be furnished with the scriptures, having a good mastery of God’s word in order to counter the gainsayers.

Let us go out to bring sinners to God. Join this journey of soul winning.
