The Bishop, Diocese of Igbomina, Right Reverend Emmanuel Adeoye Adekola, the wife, Mrs Josephine Eyitayo Adekola and the entire members of the Diocese on Sunday, December 17, converged at St Michael Cathedral, Esie, Kwara State, Nigeria for Reconciliation, Rededication and Thanksgiving service.

In a sermon titled: “Focus On Purpose” taken from Acts 6, The Right Reverend Olajide Adebayo stressed the need to focus on advancing the kingdom of God rather than giving room for misunderstanding.

Noting that there may be disagreement, Bishop Adebayo emphasised the need for effective dialogue among Christians, in order to overcome intricacies of the devil.

The clergyman, however, urged Christians to uproot bitterness from their hearts and embrace forgiveness as key to reconciliation. He noted that conflicts are parts of human nature, but it must be resolved on time in order not to damage the existing relationships.

The Bishop, Diocese of Igbomina West identified causes of conflicts to include insufficient resources, insufficient knowledge and understanding, hence the need to forgive one another as exemplified by Jesus Christ. He therefore urged members of the Igbomina Diocese to further the cause of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, so, as to bring sinners to repentance.

Meanwhile, Bishop Emmanuel Adeoye Adekola announced Mr Tunji Oyeyipo as the new Chancellor of the Diocese and Dr. Ruth Abiola Adimula as the Deputy Chancellor.

Prominent people at the event were: the Archbishop of the Anglican Ecclesiastical Province of Kwara, Most Reverend Israel Afolabi Amoo; Elesie of Esie Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oba Yakubu Babalola; Olomu of Omupo, His Royal Majesty Oba Yakub Buhari, and, the Director, Justice Equity and Peace, Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Venerable Amos Adebayo, who is also the secretary, Church of Nigeria Alternative Dispute Resolution Task Force.

Others are Sir Biobele Abraham Georgewill, Chairman, Church of Nigeria Alternative Dispute Resolution Task Force and members of Igbomina Diocesan Peace Implementation Task Force.
