The dream of a bright future for any nation would only be a fantasy, if the interests of the youths are not included.

This was the position of Mr. Ademola Adedeji, the initiator and convener of the Future Leaders’ Summit, held last week at the Redeemer’s University Auditorium, Ede, Osun State.

Sponsored by African Centre for Excellence for Genomics of Infectious Diseases (ACEGID) and Friesland Campina WAMCO, Adedeji described as unfortunate the habit of corporate world in promotion and sponsorship of music and entertainment programmes, which add little or no value to the younger generation.

He described as wasteful the habit of corporate organisations that prefer to spend money on promoting entertainment, rather than provide adequate support for education of the younger generation who will tomorrow be relied on to solve societal problems.

The Deputy Director, African Centre for Excellence for Genomics of Infectious Diseases (ACEGID), Dr. Folarin, who also spoke at the summit, explained the numerous efforts made by the Centre to impact on the world for good.

She said, “ACEGID is partnering with tREe Funds to educate the people.

Speaking on the topic: Becoming A University Student, the immediate past president of Redeemer’s University Students’ Association, Mr. Samuel Akinnuga, highlighted the essentials of becoming successful students.

He advised students to always begin with the end in mind, have a written plan, to read widely, to know something about everything, among others.
