The time Christ will appear is unknown to anyone. Mark 13:32 gives us insight. “But of that day and that hour knows no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.” This is why we have to be ever ready and prepared for His coming. Will Jesus meet us in sin or in righteousness? We need to restitute our ways and prepare for the Day of Judgment.

What are the signs that precede the coming of Christ? According to Matthew 24, There would be many false prophets that would deceive many. They would perform miracles to deceive humans and even the elects. There shall be wars and rumours of wars. Nations will rise against nations. There shall be famines, and pestilences (such as the Coronavirus pandemic) and earthquakes, in divers places. Christians will be persecuted. Iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold, but he that shall endure to the end shall be saved.

The Bible says the coming of Christ will happen “in a twinkling of an eye, in a flash.” We have to be prepared for the great day. Jesus is coming soon. Let’s keep His Word. Practise it, proclaim it, and preserve His word as it is. Then we will be fully prepared when He appears. The coming of Christ is going to be a time of judgment and terror for the unbelievers. For Christians, His coming is associated with hope and blessing. When Jesus comes, the mortal bodies of the Saints will be changed to the glorious resurrection body of Christ. This will occur in an instant. Then all Saints will be with the Lord forever. Unbelievers bury their dead without hope of seeing them ever again. But with the Christians, we have a comforting hope that our loved ones who died in Christ will rise from the dead, and we will be reunited with them in heaven forever. Christians who truly believe the coming of Christ is near must purify themselves because the time is imminent that we will stand before the Creator of the whole universe to give an account of our lives. 2Corinthians 5: 10 “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he has done, whether it be good or bad.” He will judge us according to our obedience to His word and what we have learnt from His word. Our obedience to His great commission will be ascertained.

The gospel has been committed into your hands. What are the efforts you have made for others to be saved? We are going to be judged by how we spent or utilise our time, abilities and money. Some believers will be referred to as faithful servants, and such believers will be granted great rewards by the Most High God. Those who are unfaithful servants will be dealt with. Some will wish to live their lives over again, but we must do all we need to do for God now, because we have just one life. To grow in knowledge and grace of the Lord, you need to pray, study your Bible, win others to Christ, and serve the Lord wholeheartedly. Deny yourself, live for Christ and others.
