That the world is full of storms cannot be over emphasised. They come in different forms - illness, opposition, pressure at work, relationship difficulties, bereavement, pandemic and all kind of spiritual attacks.

That the world is full of storms cannot be over emphasised. They come in different forms – illness, opposition, pressure at work, relationship difficulties, bereavement, pandemic and all kind of spiritual attacks. The ravaging Coronavirus pandemic is a very good example of storms of life. Jesus Christ knowing full well that we cannot but pass through storms of life, prepared our minds when He foretold us that in this life, we shall face tribulation, but we should be of good cheer, because He has overcome the world, John 16: 33

What the world is going through at this point in time has brought great pain to quite a number of people and nations and it seems there is no end to it. The tide may seem to turn against us at this time; it may look as if God is not just there for us again. I have Good News for you, no matter how terrifying the storm may look now; God is there to fight our battles. The book of Mark 4:35-41 shared the story of Jesus calming the storm, which stared at His disciples in the face and threatened to end their lives. Life can be tempestuous, tossing us with winds of misfortune, grief, shame, or stress, but Glory be to God that Jesus will not abandon those who are His.

As Christians, what should be our position in times like this? We should be wise and responsible. We should carefully consider all the recommended precautions from the government and health officials. We should demonstrate sanity, sympathy, and take one day at a time. And of course, we should pray. We should pray for those affected, for the tireless workers caring and working around the clock to prevent, contain and eradicate this virus and also pray for our government.

There are two sides to life: the seen and the unseen. One can be said to be the experience we go through in life, whereas the other is the role God will play to see us through the experience. Even if COVID-19 is daily staring us in the face, God is giving us deep understanding that whatsoever is happening around will not come near us because the name of the Lord is a strong tower and the righteous runs into it and is safe, Proverbs 18:10.

There are divine spiritual realities and promises that are meant to put all the storms of life including Coronavirus disease into its right perspective. And this is what Jesus in the story of the storm that confronted the disciples taught us. No matter how fiery Coronavirus is, Jesus has what it takes to silence it and it is my prayer that God will put an absolute end to the existence of the virus in our country and the world at large in Jesus Name, Amen.
