Text: Acts 4:10-12
Key Verse: Acts 4:12, “And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among mankind by which we must be saved,” (NASB).

The names of so many world leaders rang bell and then faced off. They were very temporal because they were human beings even though they made waves during their own time. Their names were popular but the moment they died, their names ceased to be anything again. Today, we scarcely hear about such great names like Zik of Africa, Nelson Mandela of South Africa, Margaret Thatcher of England and names of the founders of religion. Though they existed here on earth and did what they did but they are not God who can live forever. Today, the entire universe is still celebrating the name of Jesus because He lives forever. Hebrews 7:24 says, “But because Jesus lives forever, His priesthood lasts forever.”

Easter is a time that the entire universe commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ and His name. The women who went to the grave with sweet-smelling spices to anoint the body of Jesus got the most shocking news of their lives that Jesus Has risen. They saw that the heavy stone that covered the entrance of the grave had been rolled away (Luke 24: 1-25). We are serving a living name who died and resurrected. The Bible said there is no other name that can save anyone from sin except the name of Jesus Christ. Jesus is the greatest hero in history for the believer, for He was able to win a victory over the greatest enemies of man, and He gained a name that is above every name.

The name of Jesus is powerful and can perform miracle and do what you don’t imagine can be done. I was posted to pastor in a very tough and hard community. On arriving at my station, I decided to embark on six months prayer and fasting before I organise a crusade. I offered a prayer that God will convert the chief of sinners in that community so that when people see him they will believe the gospel we are preaching. As we were conducting the crusade, the first son of a notorious native doctor who was standing in front of their house in opposite direction of the crusade ground and waiting for the arrival of his girlfriend from another city was converted to the Lord. The young man said that something spoke to him and said, “stand and hear the word of God” and he stood somewhere and heard the word of God and automatically, he gave his life to Jesus. The people of the community said concerning the native doctor that whenever any vehicle passes him, the engine would never start again. The conversion of the young man brought about mass conversion of souls to the kingdom of God.

Jesus gained a name that is above every name and He is the greatest person in the universe. There is nothing we can do to make Him any greater than He is, but we can magnify His name. The psalmist said in Psalm 34:3, “O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together.”

You cannot make Him greater than He is, but you can make His name known to the dying world so that He can draw men unto salvation. You can magnify Him until He becomes the primary focus and the greatest influence of your life. You can lift Him up until He is truly the Lord of your life.
