Universal movie awards call for entries
With the successes recorded at the maiden Universal Movie Awards (UNIMA) held on October 22, 2021at the Silverbird Cinemas, Lagos, organisers have begun calls for the submission of entries for its second edition.
The President and Founder of the movie awards, Hope Obioma Opara, who is also the Founder of Eko International Film Festival (EKOIFF), said the now yearly awards would avail filmmakers, actors and directors from different parts of the globe opportunity to partner and collaborate.
He disclosed that the last edition despite the COVID-19 challenges attracted over 100 movies from Nigeria, Africa and different countries across the globe.
Opara noted that apart from talks, conferences, seminars and film shows; the event served as avenue to showcase Nigeria’s culture and also boost tourism.
Looking forward for support from both the state governments and corporate organisations, Opara said the award is open to any state government to host, saying such a privilege will further open up the hosting state to the world.
Apart from celebrating professional excellence in the global film/television industry, the awards’ headman disclosed that UNIMA hopes to partner local filmmakers and directors to add values to local production and creatively enrich the entertainment industry including, television soaps among others.
