The students of University of Benin have expressed appreciation for the Online Business Empowerment organised by Webbiit Technology.

Presenting the programme, CEO of the company, Mr. Ajayi Adebayo, said, Internet wields a lot of opportunities that young people can benefit from.

Ajayi stated that going with the current state of the economy students should not be thinking of white-collar jobs after leaving school.

According to him, the Internet can provide a lot of jobs.

“Young people are supposed to be employers of labour and not the other way round, but what you find today are young people graduating and waiting for many years for government jobs.

“I am now going about setting up seminars because I was once in that situation until I keyed into the Internet business that got me to where I am today. Many people acquire the idea and keep it to themselves, but I won’t do that, I will disseminate it for others to benefit,” he said.

Topics handled, include how to be mobile money agent, how to become a successful blogger and how to create and sustain traffic online. The students also learnt how to create cartoons and make adverts with them.

Commenting on the event, Suleiman Ojah, a student, noted: “Internet business is something new. Not many persons know about it. If you come into it with the right mindset and have something to offer, then you will be in the right profession.”
