Students that emerged winners at this year’s edition of Otunba Olutade Ismail Inter School Debate were recently rewarded with such prizes as laptops, television sets, tablet computers, printers, among others.

The two winners are students of Ansar-Ud-Deen Grammar School, Surulere, Lagos. Adeyemi Muaz was the Chief speaker, while Kolawole Fodhlullah was the supporting Speaker at the competition.

The award ceremony was held at Otunba Olutade Ismail International School, Surulere, Lagos.

The Principal of Ansar-Ud-Deen Grammar School, Mr. Habeeb Badru, said the programme was to inspire students desirous of becoming good speakers to develop their speaking talents.

He said: “The future belongs to these young ones, and competition is one of the keys to the future. Therefore, allowing children to confidently express themselves in public is important.

“I would advise parents, teachers, guardians, and schools to place emphasis on literacy, especially creative speaking, so as to ignite a love for public speaking among children from a young age.”
