You are not of the world – Part 4
Text: John 17:9-16
Key Verse: John 17:16, “They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.” (NKJV)
One thing everyone who has given his life to Christ should understand is that, when you say you have given your life to Jesus, it is no longer about you but Christ. I beg you; you must understand it. Don’t go to your house where you are a housewife and think you can behave anyhow, you can’t. You can’t if you have understood; you can’t, you will ask yourself, how does Jesus want me to be a housewife? As a husband, you will ask yourself, how does Jesus want me to be a husband? You can’t do whatever you want. No, you can’t, because now it is all about Jesus. One of the hymns we sing says, “All to Jesus, I surrender, All to Thee I freely give, I will ever love and trust You, In Your presence daily live.”
There must be clear evidence when someone says he has given his life to Christ. This is how it works. Whatever type of life you were living before you gave your life to Christ, it has ended and Christ Has taken over. You may have been a drunkard, you know where they sell the drinks, you know all their names, you know all the brands of alcohol and you have the money in your pocket, you have eyes because God Has not made you blind and even if you are blind anyway, you can get someone to direct you there but you don’t drink anymore. You know where the prostitutes are, you have the money in your pocket, you can drive in your car to the prostitutes, you can take a walk, you can go on keke or okada whatever, you know where they live, you can sneak in there at night and meet with the prostitutes, but now you are not doing it anymore. You used to have a girlfriend and perhaps who knows if you are committing fornication or adultery with her as a manfriend and now you have given your life to Christ and you tell the girl, I have given my life to Christ and that life is over.
There must be past tense in your life when you have given your life to Christ and it should not be business as usual. Everything a man was before ends if the man understands what salvation means. The reason is that no man who lives in sin should claim to be saved. He is not saved because he is still living in sin. No man who lives in sin should say, I am waiting for the rapture. He is not waiting for any rapture because the Bible has listed everything there, those that will never inherit the kingdom of God (1 Corinthians 6:9-10). There is a song we used to sing from Psalm 119:89, I love it, it says, “Forever O! Lord, that word is settled in Heaven.”
Every word of the Scripture is settled. In John 10:35, we were told that the Scripture cannot be broken and remember that Jesus said, Heaven and earth shall pass away, but one jot or one tittle shall not fail from this book. When God says that this life will not allow you to get into the Kingdom, nobody can change it. You will not go into the Kingdom; you will never go. If you are interested in going, there has to be a change and you have to be delivered from the life of sin.
Today’s Nugget: No sinner will inherit the Kingdom.
Prayer: Jesus, I surrender my life completely to You.
