Anchor Borrowers Programme: Sector players express reservation over Tinubu’s renewed loan recovery drive
Stakeholders in the agricultural sector have described the renewed resolve by the Federal Government to recover the Anchor Borrowers’ Programme (ABP) loan disbursed to farmers as a daunting task, which might face some sort of resistance.
Experts and stakeholders in the agriculture space have called for a total overhaul of the Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN) agriculture flagship programme, Anchor Borrowers’ Programme (ABP) even as the rate of default remains a subject of disagreement.
Despite its commitment to tapering its interventions, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), this year alone, released fresh N12.65 billion under its flagship Anchor Borrowers’ Programme (ABP).
“The poultry farmers in Lagos State were marginalised from the Anchor Borrowers Programme (ABP). Loans were given to faceless poultry farmers.
Repayment of Anchor Borrowers Programme (ABP) has hit N503 million, which represents 52.39 per cent, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) said.
