That ECOWAS court ruling nullifying blasphemy laws in Kano

On April 9, 2025, the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Court of Justice (ECJ) made a landmark judgment, holding certain aspects of the Kano State’s blasphemy laws in Nigeria to be incompatible with international human rights standards, more particularly, the right to freedom of expression.
