Indian soldiers, suspected rebels, clash at Kashmir school
Government forces in Indian-administered Kashmir were locked in an intense battle Sunday with armed militants who took cover in a school after opening fire on a group of soldiers on the eve of Eid, police said.

The rebels attacked the army brigade headquarters housing hundreds of soldiers in the town of Uri, close to the de facto border with Pakistan. They were armed with grenades and automatic rifles, an army official said on condition of anonymity.
