Since its post-bellum inception in 1973, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme has stood the test of time as the best institutional defensive wall against ethnoreligious fragmentation in Nigeria. Known to have been conceived for the aim of healing fractured polity, its primary mandate has unshakably been the fusion of cross-cultural integration. However, the recent approval of sweeping reforms by the Federal Executive Council (FEC) threatens to fundamentally mutate this revered scheme.
