Sunderland have appointed former Manchester United manager David Moyes to replace Sam Allardyce as boss at the Stadium of Light, the perennial Premier League strugglers said on Saturday.

Sam Allardyce is set to be hired as the new England manager at a Football Association board meeting at Wembley on Thurday, FA chairman Greg Dyke said.
