From The Beginning… appointment of Chief Imam

The institution of Imamship in Ogbomoso appeared to have been inaugurated officially in 1829 with the emergence of an immigrant Nafiu Onaniyi from Ile-Ife as the first to be turbaned. He reigned through 1870.
