Genius Hub revolutionise vocational education with EdTech initiatives in Nigeria
A human capital development organisation, Genius Hub is set to revolutionise Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Nigeria by integrating innovative Educational Technology (EdTech) into its programs.
The organisation revealed that as the demand for skilled workers in a rapidly evolving job market increases, they are committed to providing solutions to equip youths with the necessary skills for the future.
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Genius Hub, Isimeme Whyte stated that the founding mission of the institution is to enhance human capacity and economic empowerment, having impacted over 35,000 beneficiaries through various training programs, including NABTEB-certified vocational skills, digital training and entrepreneurship skills.
She said, “Are we equipping youths and learners with the skills for the jobs of tomorrow, or are we still entrenched in the education system of yesterday? Vocational education powered by EdTech is the answer.”
In addressing the skills gap, Whyte added that Genius Hub employs a blended learning approach that combines traditional vocational training with modern technology, including offering online vocational courses in partnership with an online learning platform, Alison, making high quality education accessible to a broader audience.
“By emphasising practical, hands-on experience through work-based learning opportunities such as internships and apprenticeships, we prepare learners for real-world challenges,” she said.
She went further to note that one of its service divisions, Ewaen Studios, focuses on filmmaking, providing students with industry-relevant skills in areas like lighting, directing, and video editing.
Adding that the integration of apprenticeships into their training programs allows learners to practice their skills in real-world settings, better preparing them for careers in their chosen fields.
Whyte emphasized, “By blending innovative EdTech solutions with hands-on learning experiences, the organization is empowering thousands of learners with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in an ever-evolving job market.”
