NITDA strengthens startup innovation with new council board

The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), through its Office for Nigerian Digital Innovation (ONDI), has selected four representatives of the Startup Consultative Forum (SCF) to serve on the National Council for Digital Innovation and Entrepreneurship (NCDIE) for the next two years.

The selected members included Founding Partner at Future Africa and co-founder of Andela and Flutterwave, Iyinoluwa Aboyeji.

Others are Co-Founder and Executive Director of Advocacy for Policy and Innovation, Victoria Manya;
Founder of TechQuest, Charles Uchenna Emembolu; and Founder of Go Agent Limited, Abba Ibrahim Gamawa.
NITDA, in a public notice, said the representatives will play a crucial role in shaping Nigeria’s startup ecosystem by ensuring that the voices of founders and innovators are directly reflected in national innovation policy.

The technology development agency said the members are also expected to make inputs and proposals to the NCDIE, ensuring that the objectives of the Nigeria Startup Act are effectively implemented through well-aligned policy guidelines and monitoring.

It noted that its inclusion on the Council underscores its commitment to strengthening the country’s digital innovation ecosystem through collaboration among government, the private sector, academia, and other stakeholders.

NITDA said such synergy will help drive inclusivity, promote innovation, and translate digital advancement into measurable economic and social outcomes across Nigeria.

“This demonstrates the Agency’s commitment to strengthening the digital innovation ecosystem by championing increased collaboration between the government, private sector, academia and other ecosystem stakeholders, paving the way for a brighter digital future,” NITDA stated.

Meanwhile, NITDA in partnership with Brevity Anderson has announced the 2025 edition of the Digital Nigeria International Conference & Exhibition, with the theme: “Innovation for a Sustainable Digital Future: Accelerating Growth, Inclusion and Global Competitiveness.”

The conference is scheduled to be held from November 11th to 13th at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, Abuja.

The flagship event stands as Nigeria’s largest and most influential digital economy gathering, bringing together policymakers, innovators, entrepreneurs, industry leaders, investors, academia, and the global tech community.

Speaking ahead of the event, the Director-General of NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, reaffirmed the Agency’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for digital innovation:
