Tech expert, Ifeanyi Madu enlightens on need for tech empowerment for youths in Nigeria

As the world becomes increasingly digital, Nigeria must prioritise tech empowerment to generate economic growth, enhance livelihoods, and drive innovation…

Ifeanyi Madu, One of the leads of Facebook developer circles in Benin, Edo State says Nigeria finds itself at a crossroads in today’s fast-paced, technologically driven society. As the government works to diversify its economy, create jobs, and raise living standards, one thing is clear: tech empowerment is no longer a luxury, but rather a necessity.

He highlights these advantages at the just concluded ICT hub for starters organized by the Technology Incubacion Centre Benin on Friday 19th of February 2021

When asked about the reasons, He says technological empowerment are multifaceted and Nigerians may gain access to the global economy by learning digital skills, which will allow them to find better-paying employment, start their own businesses, and develop inventive solutions to everyday problems. Furthermore, technological empowerment has the potential to close the digital divide between rural and urban areas, ensuring that everyone has equal access to opportunities and resources.

Despite its potential, Nigeria remains behind in terms of digital literacy and technological adoption. According to recent data, just a small percentage of Nigerians have access to the internet, and even fewer have the skills to properly use digital technologies. To address this issue, experts emphasise the importance of a multi-stakeholder approach. Governments, corporations, educational institutions, and civil society organisations must work together to develop inclusive, accessible, and cost-effective digital skills training programs.

Mr Ifeanyi says Tech education helps young people build abilities that will be valuable in both their personal and professional life thereby fostering entrepreneurship and business launch with minimal capital. As Nigeria aims to become a leading digital economy, we must prioritise technological empowerment. This allows us to unlock the potential of our youth, stimulate innovation, and create a better future for all Nigerians.
