MTN Nigeria has inaugurated a cutting-edge 5G-powered digital service centre at its regional headquarters in Abuja, marking the first of its kind by any telecom operator in the country. The unveiling took place on Tuesday, with the company highlighting the centre’s goal of delivering an immersive, technology-driven customer experience.

Speaking at the launch, MTN Nigeria’s Chief Customer and Experience Officer, Ugonwa Nwoye, said the company’s commitment to pioneering digital advancements in Nigeria.

“Today, we launched the first digital experience centre in Nigeria by any telecom firm,” Nwoye stated. “One of the things we set out to do is to bring an immersive digital experience closer to our customers and the businesses around us.”

Nwoye underlined MTN’s history of trailblazing in the Nigerian telecom industry, referencing its early adoption of new technologies.

“When we entered this market, we were the first on 3G, the first on 4G, and now the first on 5G. Everything you see here is powered by technology—specifically 5G technology,” she added.

The new digital service centre is equipped with self-service kiosks that allow customers to access various services independently or with guided assistance.

“We’ve built the first digital kiosk that supports up to eight user journeys. At these service centres, customers can carry out tasks like purchasing a SIM card, airtime, or data plans, ordering devices, and even acquiring 5G routers with delivery options across Nigeria,” Nwoye explained.

The centre also showcases smart home solutions, demonstrating how customers can remotely manage their homes via mobile devices.

“The smart home use case here shows that, whether in Nigeria or anywhere else in the world, you can control your home from your phone—so long as you have a data connection,” Nwoye said.

Beyond connectivity, Nwoye stressed that the digital centre aims to empower customers to explore their potential and embrace a tech-driven lifestyle.

“This is not just about data and devices. It’s about enabling you to live a life that is breathtaking. We want our customers to harness the power of technology to free their minds, dream big, and achieve their full potential,” she concluded.

The launch of this 5G-powered digital centre underscores MTN’s drive to remain at the forefront of innovation in Nigeria’s telecommunications landscape.
