Determined to fully protect and guarantee quality petroleum products in the country, an indigenous firm, Engineering Automation Technology Limited, in collaboration with Cygnus and Stanhope-seta Technologies, has introduced various laboratory instruments for testing fuel and oil distillation in Nigeria.

The technology, which was showcased during an awareness programme in Lagos recently, is specifically designed to protect crude integrity through detection of corrosion and test for industry specifications on the Jet A1 otherwise known as aviation fuel.

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Engineering Automation, Emmanuel Okon, said the products would eliminate fears that come with the deregulation regime over some sharp practices by marketers, while the upstream operators can have quality crude blend.

Confirming, its impact on the Nigerian content agenda of the Federal Government, Okon said the products would enhance local capacity and save the huge capital fright expended in the industry.

According to him, the products- Multi-mode ultrasonic thickness guage has a versatile data logging which allows measurements and a-scan to be saved with about 5000 measurement points per record.

Setaflash series provides rapid sample testing using integral heating and forced sample cooling systems.

“Because of the risk involved, we have taking particular interest in proving cutting-edge technology, technical leadership and providing solutions to challenges in the industry.

“If the quality of fuel used by upstream and downstream is compromised, it could lead to casualty. No matter the quality or the integrity of the aircraft engine, impunities in the aviation fuel can cause the aircraft to crash, hence the risk needs to be avoided, so we decided to bring these products into the country to ensure that they are well serviced for better results.”
