Taiwo Bankole, the founder of Strictly Events NG, has opened up on how her drinks business led her inadvertently into events planning. Over the years, Bankole has become a force in the Nigerian events planning industry.

As the twin sister of popular actress Kehinde Bankole, Taiwo Bankole has carved her own path and established herself as a respected entrepreneur and event planner.

Growing up in a family of six, Taiwo Bankole had a close bond with her parents and twin sister. During her university years, she ventured into the world of entrepreneurship by starting her drinks company called ‘Drink and Us’. This marked the beginning of her entrepreneurial journey. As her business flourished, Taiwo Bankole noticed that clients who purchased drinks from her often sought her assistance in organizing their events. Recognizing the demand for event planning services, she decided to expand her business and offer comprehensive event planning solutions.

Reflecting on her journey, Taiwo Bankole explains, “I had been in the drinks business for years when I realized the opportunity to diversify into events planning. Clients would frequently reach out to me for help with various aspects of their events, and I thought, why not offer these services officially? With the guidance and counsel of my senior colleagues, I founded Strictly Events Nigeria.”

Over the years, Taiwo Bankole has showcased her talent and expertise in organizing a wide range of events. One notable occasion was her involvement in an event hosted by Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi. The monarch bestowed a chieftaincy title on Sir Adebutu Kessington. Through extensive research and preparation, Taiwo Bankole ensured that the event captured the significance of the chieftaincy title, which holds immense cultural importance in Nigeria.

Sharing the challenges she faced during that particular event, Taiwo Bankole reveals, “During the installation ceremony, an unexpected turn of events occurred when I was instructed to vacate the hall so that traditional rituals could take place. In the rush to comply, an icing chair fell on my leg, leaving me shocked and injured.
Despite the setback, I persevered and sought medical attention to ensure the success of the event. The following day, with a swollen leg, I worked tirelessly alongside my team to cater to the dignitaries in attendance.”
