Rotary Club distributes maternal kits to pregnant women, health centre

Rotary Club of Ogudu GRA has distributed baby cot beds with net cover, cloths and baby scale to pregnant women and Ogudu Primary Health Centre in Lagos State, as part of efforts to improve maternal and child health care in communities.

President of the club, Akeem Shonde, while distributing the items, yesterday, at the health centre, said the club distributed the maternal and child kits to pregnant women and the hospital to commemorate the Rotary month of maternal and child health.

Shonde also said the club gave out the items to help reduce the burden of malaria among babies as well as cushion the harsh economic effects of getting those items on the mothers.

Meanwhile, representative of the health centre, Dr. Oguntoyinbo Kehinde, who commended the club for its continuous assistance to the hospital, said most of the pregnant women were not financially buoyant to get the baby care items, which are very essential.

She said the club had helped the women to remove the burden of getting the items.

One of the pregnant women, Victoria Inyang, thanked the club for the mother and baby care packs.

She said getting baby beds with nets is essential, especially with malaria in the country.

Inyang said provision of the items would help to alleviate the pregnant women’s burden of getting the items.
