Security operatives are on the trail of a particular suspect, an accomplice of a person already in police custody, for publishing a malicious story against the Secretary to the Ogun State Government (SSG), Mr Tokunbo Talabi.

It was gathered that while being quizzed, the accused, who was picked up 10 days ago, fingered the suspect, currently at large, as the source of the malicious story.

The accused, who is the publisher of an online platform, was alleged to be responsible for syndicating the story. He was released on administrative bail last Thursday to some notable personalities.

“The accused is a person of interest to us in the course of this investigation. We shall leave no stone unturned to unravel those behind this whole saga,” said a security source.

It was gathered that some officials of a commercial bank have been quizzed by the DSS too. The officials were invited to explain the circumstances surrounding the release and manipulation of the statement of account of Superflux, a company where Talabi had worked before.

The bank was accused of not maintaining strict adherence to rules and regulations guiding banking operations in Nigeria.

The focus of the investigation was for the bank to explain how the suspect illegally accessed the account of Superflux and consequently manipulated it to suit some nefarious intentions of media propaganda and smear campaign.
