It is two years since Afrobeats star and music heavyweight, Lanre Fasasi, popularly known as Sound Sultan passed away, but his close ally, Innocent Ujah Idibia, professionally known as Tuface is still pained by his demise.
The Afro-pop legend got emotional talking about his late friend and colleague, while speaking on Afrobeats Podcast with Adesola.
Asked how the death of his dear friend affected him, the African Queen crooner who got emotional said: “Sultan, I don’t know…he was one of the ‘goodest’ (nicest), if I can use that word. He was one of the ‘goodest’ people you can ever come across.”
The If Love Is A Crime singer admitted that it took him a long time to acknowledge and accept the fact that Sultan was truly gone, as he initially thought that it was a joke when he first got wind of the sad news.
He further disclosed that Sultan had a late diagnosis of his cancer adding that it was initially diagnosed as malaria after running tests in the country.
“For a long time, I did not accept that fact; it was like a joke, and the diagnosis was late. He did tests in Nigeria, and we thought it was malaria, but I don’t want to get into all that.”
Sound Sultan passed away on Sunday, July 11, 2021, at the age of 44 following a hard-fought battle with Angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma, a rare form of cancer.
