National Vice Chairman (South West) of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, Wasiu Ajirotutu, has described the party’s presidential candidate in the February 25, 2023 election, Rabiu Kwankwaso, as a political liability.
He dared Kwankwaso to publicly refute the claims that he never met with All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Tinubu, four days before the February general election.
In a statement, yesterday, the party leader insisted that the meeting between Kwankwaso and Tinubu a few days before the election was anti-party and a betrayal of trust.
Ajirotutu became the South West chairman of the party, last Tuesday, after the Board of Trustees (BoT) sacked the Kwankwasiyya faction of the National Working Committee (NWC) and handed six months suspension to Kwankwaso.
Reacting to Kwankwaso’s suspension, Ajirotutu alleged that the leader of Kwankwasiyya Movement used the party’s structure for personal gains. He, however, expressed readiness to make the party an enviable one in the South West.
“Kwankwaso cajoled us as if he is contesting the presidency, whereas he is a pretender and not a contender. He came to trade with the name of the party by hobnobbing with other political parties and their candidates to get favour. It is very unfortunate that this same Kwankwaso is now accusing an innocent man in the person of our founder, Dr. Boniface Aniebonam, of anti-party activity.
“I enjoin all NNPP members in Yoruba land to be calm and watchful as events unfold for a new Nigeria of our dreams,” he stated.
