CDS visits CAN, harps on unity, harmony

Nigeria's Chief of Defence Staff and chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) commitee, Christopher Musa, gives his closing remarks to the media at the end of their deliberations in Accra, on August 18, 2023. West African military chiefs said on August 18, 2023 they were ready for an armed intervention in Niger after a coup ousted President Mohamed Bazoum last month, but a diplomatic mission was possible over the weekend to keep talks open. Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, has said unity and harmony are catalysts to national growth.

Musa stated this, yesterday, when he paid a visit to the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) headquarters in Abuja.

The CDS appreciated CAN for its prayers and support for the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN).

He also reiterated the commitment of the AFN to democracy.

The CDS emphasised the need for unity as key to national growth, stressing that our differences should enhance national development rather than division.

In his response, the CAN President, His Eminence, Most Rev. Dr. Daniel Okoh, lauded the CDS for visiting. He assured him of CAN’s continuous support to him as he strives to deliver on its constitutional responsibilities. He also applauded the CDS for being the first to visit the CAN Secretariat.
