The United Nations Positive Livelihood and Award Centre (UN-POLAC Foundation) has advocated the promotion of peace worldwide, in line with the UN-General Assembly’s declaration for peace and non-violence.

Deputy Country Director of the foundation, Amb. Peter Ohagwu, stated this during the celebration of International Day of Peace, and induction of newly appointed advocates in Lagos.

The event has as its theme: “Actions for peace: Our ambition for the global goals.”
Ohagwu said UN-POLAC is dedicated to upholding the sustainable development goals, and recognises the role peace plays in an individual, families, society and the world at large.

He added that the organisation has concluded plans to embark on sensitisation campaigns and also train university students on peace building, conflict prevention and management in some selected tertiary institutions.

Director General, UN-POLAC, Prof. Halo Eton, in his remarks, said the organisation is committed to addressing basic human needs.

In his opening address, Lagos Stare Director, UN-POLAC, Dr. Nzeribe Okegbue, said without peace, there can never be a better world.
“There is a need to come together and promote peace, to make the world a peaceful place for us all,” he said.

Okegbue further tasked the newly inducted members and awardees to live up to expectations and maintain high integrity.
