
For allegedly stealing his employer’s Toyota Hiace worth N20 million, the police, yesterday, arraigned a 33-year-old driver, Nonso Christian, before Lagos Magistrate’s court sitting in Ogba.
Christian, who resides at No 32, Ikunna Street, Ikotun Egbe, was arraigned before Chief Magistrate, Bola Osunsanmi, on two-count bordering on conspiracy and stealing preferred against him by the police.
Police prosecutor, Raji Akeem, told the court that the defendant committed the offense on August 10, at Ekeyson Motors Park, Ogba, Lagos.
Akeem told the court that the defendant stole a Toyota Hiace bus valued at N20 million after he took passengers to their destination in Enugu State.
The prosecutor said that the complainant, Ekeson Motors, reported the case to the police after all efforts made by him to get the defendant and his bus failed.
Akeem said that with the help of some useful information the police gathered, the defendant was tracked and arrested.
He said the defendant’s offence contravened the provision of sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
But the defendant pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge.
Chief Magistrate Osunsanmi, however, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The court subsequently adjourned the case to October 23, for mention.
