.State prepares to disburse N10,000 each to vulnerable people

Ondo State Consciousness Movement has urged Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, to prioritise the welfare of the people above personal battles.

The organisation, which faulted the continued absence of the governor from the state after his return from medical vacation abroad, said the governor’s action has brought governance to near standstill.

While condemning the siege laid on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) secretariat on Monday, Olaseni asked the governor to return to his duties and resume governance without further delay.

He said: “The Ondo State House of Assembly’s recent attempt to impeach Deputy Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, followed by the swift suspension of the impeachment proceedings through a Federal High Court order, is nothing short of a proxy war that is disrupting the lives of the people.

“While the political power tussle rages on, the state is left to suffer as resources and energy that should be directed towards development are squandered on internal strife.”
THE call on the governor came as the state government announced its readiness
to disburse N10,000 each to vulnerable persons and packs of noodles to over 192,000 pupils.

The Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Bamidele Ademola-Olateju, who revealed this, stressed that the disbursement of the funds will help in cushioning the effect of fuel subsidy removal on the vulnerable.

According to Ademola-Olateju, Governor Akeredolu has also ordered the payment of all outstanding salary arrears to local government workers and primary school teachers in the state.

The information commissioner added that the arrears of pensioners owed by the previous administration had all been paid to bring succour to the pensioners.
