Igbo people have been urged to increase their quest for knowledge by reading educational books, and paying less attention to trivial and inconsequential activities.

Speaking at the launch of a 319 -page book on Legislature, Judiciary and Executive, titled: “Fundamentals of government: A complete guide for schools and colleges,” authored by a media practitioner, Christopher Ononukwe, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Imo State Water and Sewerage Corporation (ISWSC), Emeka Ugoanyanwu, cautioned Igbos to desist from self- destruction, and concentrate on knowledge acquisition, intensive reading and research-oriented ventures.

Ugoanyanwu warned of impending doom if the region abandons the culture of knowledge acquisition.

He described Ononukwe, as a committed author and writer, who devoted his time to transmute his knowledge into a book.

“If we know who we are, which is our greatest problem today, we will not be doing what we are doing now, we are the only tribe seen in every part of the country, doing our legitimate businesses but regrettably, we have continued to destroy ourselves for minute, trivial and inconsequential issues.”

A Senior Lecturer in the Department of political science, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Dr. Nwagbo Samuel, extolled the author for his intellectual work, describing it as a masterpiece that explores the “fundamentals of effective government.”

In his remarks, Ononukwe said his work was targeted at students, teachers and researchers, and has been aligned with the curriculum as recommended by the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC).

“I have taken time to ensure that the complex ideas within the realm of politics are presented with clarity, and this approach allows readers to easily understand and engage with the subject matter.”
