ValueJet airplane skids off taxiway in Port Harcourt

Domestic carrier, ValueJet airline, recorded an aircraft incident yesterday, when its CRJ 900 Bombardier slipped off the taxiway shortly after landing.

The Guardian learnt that the incident occurred after aircraft landed safely at 3.30 p.m. and cleared off the runway. There was no damage to the aircraft, but the sudden turn of event left passengers and airport staff surprised.

Managing Director of ValueJet, Capt. Dapo Majekodunmi, confirmed the incident at the Port-Harcourt International Airport. Captain Stanley Balami said the aircraft encountered a slip “due to algae on the taxiway, which made it unable to maintain the centre line, and consequently slipped.”
He said ValueJet remains a safe airline and all the airline’s operations are normal without glitches.
