The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service is set to prosecute a man at the Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Court, Safety Arena, on Monday, November 20, 2023 for assaulting firefighters engaged in statutory duty.

Lagos State Fire Service and Rescue Service in a statement said the incident occurred on Monday, October 1, 2023, at 167 Egbe Road, Cele Egbe, Ikotun, Lagos.

The accused allegedly attacked firefighters responding to a fire incident, claiming the firefighters obstructed his tricycle/motorcycle park operations, leading to a confrontation.

Following the altercation, the State Task Force officials pursued and apprehended the accused last Thursday.

Adeseye Margret, the director of the Lagos State Fire Service and Rescue, emphasized that this case is one of 12 instances of public disturbances against the agency this year.

She assured that every effort would be made to pursue justice and uphold Public Order and Safety.
