Teams from across the country will begin their quest for laurels at the third Quadri Aruna National Table Tennis Open Championship, which serves off today at Eko Club, Lagos.

The five-day tournament is organised by Aruna Sports and Academy, supported by Eko Club and Olusoga Odunayo Adesanya Foundation, with Lagos State Table Tennis Association (LSTTA) providing the technical backing.

Already, teams from 10 states have arrived for the tournament, with other clubs and academies within and outside Lagos working tirelessly to beat the deadline for registration.

Already, some of the top players have expressed interest to be part of the championships, which will see a new men’s singles king in the absence of defending champion, Muiz Adegoke.

According to the coordinator of the tournament, Ganiat Aruna, the championship is aimed at unearthing new talents that would step into the shoes of top stars like Quadri Aruna.

“Our aim is to discover more talents by catching them young, as well as help children maintain a healthy lifestyle through table tennis,” the former national junior champion said.
