Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State has signed the fifth strategic dialogue of Mutual Accountability Framework (MAF), with the United Kingdom’s Foreign Commonwealth Development Office (FCDO).

After signing the dialogue, Namadi said: “This is a fifth strategic dialogue of MAF that focuses on developmental issues, particularly those related to health, education, social protection, agriculture and youth empowerment sectors.

“I am delighted that we are gathered once again for the continuation of the strategic dialogue between the Jigawa government and the FCDO. From what we have achieved over the years, I firmly believe in the effectiveness of the MAF.”

The governor outlined key achievements across various sectors, including sustained investment in healthcare, increased access to education and advancements in social protection initiatives, as well as the commitment to improve governance, economic growth and leveraging technology for a digital economy as core priorities for Jigawa.

FCDO Development Director, Dr Christopher Pycroft, commended Namadi’s visionary 12-point agenda and assured him of FCDO’s continued support.
Pycroft highlighted the significance of sustaining the MAF approach and expanding collaboration with other stakeholders to foster development of Jigawa and its people.

The director, who shared his sentiments on the enduring partnership, acknowledged the impactful journey over the last 23 years in Jigawa’s development.

He, then, expressed confidence in the continued growth of the alliance, envisioning a future where Jigawa becomes a beacon of progress for other sub-national governments and development partners.
