Spokesperson for the command, Yemisi Opalola, in a statement, revealed that Eniola ordered his guard to test a double-barreled gun. In the process, the United States-based lecturer was hit.
She said: “The command is using this medium to inform the general public that it is aware of the shooting incident that occurred at Ejigbo, which led to the death of one Richard Adeori Okin.
“The incident occurred on January 27, at about 9:48 p.m., after the 50th coronation anniversary of the Ogiyan of Ejigbo, Oba Oyeyode Oyesosin, where one Prince Eniola Oyeyode, ‘m’, of Ejigbo instructed one of his civilian guards, named Hammed Abdul Jelili, ‘m’, of Ejigbo to fire his double-barreled gun into the air, to confirm if the gun was in good condition or not. Instead, he shot directly at the victim who was rushed to a hospital but confirmed dead by a doctor on duty.
“Meanwhile, the prince, Eniola Oyeyode, who gave the order to his civilian guard to fire the gun has been arrested and detained.”
