Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, yesterday, flagged off the construction of a flyover bridge in Ile-Ife. Adeleke, who spoke during the ceremony, said the project was awarded to Messrs Sammya Nigeria Limited for N14.9 billion. He said the state government complied with due process and the procurement law, and that the completion period is 12 months.

The governor also flagged off the construction of 55.86km of roads across councils in the state at N30.6 billion. The completion period is also 12 months.
He said: “The Ile-Ife project was justified on the grounds of easing traffic, facilitating connectivity and attracting adjacent economic activities. Ile Ife deserves not only an infrastructural upgrade but a classical uplift to enhance the tourism capital. This is what our government is launching today. We are on a march to greater heights for Ile-Ife and Osun State.”

Earlier in his remarks, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, implored residents to join hands with the Osun State government over the project. Oba Ogunwusi also urged Adeleke not to delay or abandon the flyover.

ALSO, the lawmaker representing Osun East Senatorial District in the Senate, Adenigba Fadahunsi, distributed another batch of 1,800 bags of rice to his constituents.

Fadahunsi, who was represented at the event by his Senior Legislative Aide, Ayo Awodirepo, lauded President Bola Tinubu for ameliorating the effects of economic hardship occasioned by the removal of fuel subsidy.

The senator observed that the intervention by Tinubu, through the National Assembly, was strategic in addressing the problems confronting the downtrodden of the society. Fadahunsi charged the leaders of different groups that received the food items on behalf of their members to ensure delivery to the beneficiaries.
