Delta State Police Command has arrested three persons in connection with the killing of 33-year-old Smart Meju in Agbor Ika South Local Council of the state.
The Guardian learnt that yet-to-be-identified persons killed the deceased on Wednesday. The lifeless body, which was dumped somewhere in Agbor town, was found a day after he left home.
Narrating the ordeal, the father of the deceased, Innocent Meju, said his son, Smart Meju, left home at about 8:00 a.m. on the fateful day to attend a graduation ceremony in one of the schools in the area but never returned.
The father said his son, a phone dealer in Asaba, returned home to prepare for moving outside the country to pursue his education.
According to the deceased’s father, “After waiting endlessly for Smart Meju to return home, and we didn’t see him on time, we reported to the police in Agbor.”
The spokesperson for the Police Command, Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident.
He said: “It is not clear that they (the arrested) were the ones that killed the boy, but it was discovered that the deceased was last seen with them. The police are still investigating the matter to know who and how he was killed.”
