Nasarawa fixes LG elections for November 2nd


The Nasarawa State Independent Electoral Commission (NASIEC) has fixed November 2nd 2024 for council elections.

The Chairman NASIEC, Barr. Ayuba Wandai, made the announcement on Wednesday at the commission’s headquarters in Lafia.

He said, “You recalled that the commission conducted the last government council elections was conducted last on October 6th, 2021.

“You may further recall that on 31st August 2023, the commission released a notice of election and time table of activities leading to the conduct of the 2024 local government council elections.”

The NASIEC chairman disclosed that a series of court cases truncated the timetable earlier set, but however noted that the commission has cleared itself from all the suites in court and jenace the need for the council.

“The chairmanship and councillorship elections holds on 12th of November 2024,” he added.

Wandai urged all political parties to take note of the timetable for the conduct of the council election.

He assured that the 2024 council elections would be transparent and the result would be announced live, unlike the previous elections.
