The Ogun State Police Command has recovered an AK-47 rifle, two rounds of 7.62mm ammunition and a Mercedes-Benz GLK during an operation in Ota, as investigations into recent criminal activities in the area continue.
The latest recovery followed a search of an unregistered Mercedes-Benz GLK, during which police operatives discovered the rifle and ammunition concealed in the vehicle.
The command public relations officer, DSP, Oluseyi Babaseyi said the vehicle and recovered exhibits had been secured, while investigations were ongoing to establish their ownership and possible links to criminal activities.
Babaseyi stated that the development comes after an earlier police operation in Ijaba, Iyesi, Ota, where officers responding to a robbery incident reportedly neutralised a suspected armed robber.
He noted that during the earlier operation, the police also recovered two vehicles, suspected stolen property and a locally made pistol with ammunition.
According to him,”The latest recovery added to the series of operational developments in Ota, with the police intensifying efforts to tackle robbery and other criminal activities in the area.”
The State Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, commended the officers involved, praising their vigilance and professionalism.
Ojajuni reaffirmed the command’s commitment to proactive policing and the protection of lives and property across the state.
The command also urged residents to continue cooperating with security agencies by providing timely and useful information that could assist investigations and prevent crime.
