The Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN) has informed that the recently concluded October 2024 Diet Examination marks the institute’s transition from physical to Computer-Based Examinations (CBE) with effect from April 2025 as well as the release of its newly reviewed syllabus.

A statement by the Registrar/Chief Executive, CITN, Afolake Oso, said the CBE would enhance the convenience and efficiency of future examinations, which before now, had been tested on foundation students with huge success recorded.

She said effective April 2025, the Professional Examinations 1 and 11 would be deployed as CBE even as the institute also announced the release of the October 2024 Diet Examination results.

According to Oso, “We are delighted to celebrate the success of our students in the recently concluded October 2024 Diet Examination, while acknowledging the hard work and dedication that led to this achievement. Students are advised to check the established Telegram group as well as their dashboards on the CITN portal for their results and further updates.”

However, she said the institute noted with concern the low turnout of foundation students at the CBT sensitisation programmes usually held four Thursdays of the month before the diet exams.

The sensitization program, according to the Registrar, is always an avenue to appraise students of the modalities for CBT and acquaint them with the functionality of the CBT platform.

She said the programme affords students the opportunity of trying out the institute’s mock examinations before the actual examination.

Unfortunately, Oso said the turnout at the sensitisation programmes has always been low.

“We encourage all our current and prospective students to take advantage of such opportunities in order to familiarise themselves with the new examination format by attending the sensitisation and demo programme that would be organised ahead of the 2025 April and October diet examinations respectively,” she said.

For optimal performance in the institute’s exams, the chief executive urged the students writing the exams to attend the sensitisation programmes, register with an accredited tuition house and utilise recommended reading materials to enhance their chances of success so that they are not caught unawares.

She stressed that the CITN examinations provide valuable opportunities for professional growth and development to continuously enhance standards, adding that the institute would continue to improve on the standard of its examinations to sustain the high quality of professionals in the tax industry.
