Army rescues 58 kidnapped victims in Katsina

A joint operation led by the 1 Division of the Nigerian Army has rescued 58 kidnapped victims from Gayam, Sabon Layi, and Kwaga villages in the Dan Musa Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The rescue operation was carried out on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at about 3:00 pm.

The rescued individuals, including 35 males and 23 females, were abducted from their homes and farmlands in the LGA by suspected armed bandits under the command of a notorious leader known as Janbros.

The State House in a statement said the victims endured an arduous journey, forced to trek long distances to the dense forest of Birnin Gwari.

The victims have been placed on immediate medical checkups and care after their release

Six of the victims who required hospital admission have since rejoined the group and will soon be reunited with their families.

The Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) oversaw their rehabilitation to ensure continued support and care.
