Justice Walter Onnoghen case is compelling me to think, contemplate and dwell further on the question of patriotism in our country.

Justice Walter Onnoghen. PHOTO: PHILIP OJISUASenate President Bukola Saraki announced yesterday that Justice Walter Onnoghen’s nomination, as substantive Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) would be considered today.
To that extent, the Senate will subject the nominee to a thorough screening at a confirmation hearing in plenary.Onnoghen who was nominated by the Acting President earlier in February has been serving in acting capacity since November 10, 2016.
If confirmed, Onnoghen, who hails from Cross River State, will be the first Southern jurist to occupy the exalted position of CJN in about 30 years.
