Nestlé Professional, the Out-of-Home business division of Nestlé Nigeria, has introduced Maggi Soya Chunks, a cost-effective and nutritious protein alternative, to food vendors, chefs, and event planners during the Lagos edition of its Business of Food workshop.
The workshop, now in its ninth edition, aims to empower food vendors with skills and knowledge to improve their businesses while addressing the challenge of balancing profitability with adequate nutrition.
Over 2,000 food vendors across nine states have benefited from the initiative, which promotes innovation and sustainability in the local food industry.
This year’s focus on Maggi Soya Chunks offers vendors a solution to rising costs by providing an affordable, soya-based texturized protein that can meet the nutritional needs of up to eight people per pack.
This alternative helps vendors remain profitable while delivering healthier meals to customers.
Speaking at the event, the Business Manager for Nestlé Professional in Nigeria, Mrs. Funmi Osineye, emphasised the company’s commitment to empowering food vendors.
“By introducing Maggi Soya Chunks, we aim to provide an affordable and nutritious option that supports vendors’ businesses and promotes healthier eating habits within communities,” she said.
Participants were also trained on strategies for maintaining profitability during challenging economic periods.
The Managing Director of Food Bizz Support Services, Mrs. Osaretin Okao, encouraged attendees to embrace innovation and incorporate affordable ingredients like Maggi Soya Chunks into their menus.
She explained that managing a successful food business requires adaptability and a willingness to embrace new opportunities.
Okao explained that by incorporating affordable and nutritious ingredients like Maggi Soya Chunks, vendors can enhance their offerings while ensuring profitability and sustainability.
The half-day event featured a masterclass by Chef Ehis Oseniga on preparing Ofada rice sauce with Maggi Soya Chunks.
Attendees also participated in a cooking competition, showcasing meals such as Chunky Jollof Rice, Soya Spaghetti Jollof, and Soyarito Fried Rice, all made with the new product.
Okao reaffirmed Nestlé Professional’s commitment to supporting food vendors’ growth and success.
She said the aim is to uplift the local food industry, promote entrepreneurship, and create a positive impact in communities.
