Obasanjo receives Kwankwaso, Duke in Abeokuta
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Saturday received Donald Duke and Rabiu Kwankwaso, who are former governors of Cross River and Ogun states, respectively, in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
Though details of the meeting held at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) have not been disclosed, it may be connected to the 2027 elections.
Kwankwaso, who ran for president on the platform of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NPP) in 2023, said in a post on social media that “significant national issues, including the future of politics and governance in Nigeria,” were discussed at the meeting.
He then expressed gratitude to Obasanjo for his warm support and hospitality.
The last time the former president and Kwankwaso met was at the former governor’s daughter’s wedding in Kano, where Obasanjo was seen donning a red cap, which is an insignia of the Kwankwasiyya Movement that Kwankwaso leads.
