A groundbreaking project set to redefine luxury and eco-friendly commercial development will soon be completed in Abuja. The iconic facility, christened the Afreximbank African Trade Centre (AATC), is spearheaded by the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) with Messrs Ora Egbunike and Associates, a firm of valuers, certified facility manager and investment property consultant as the asset manager.

The AATC is an ambitious, integrated one-stop shop for trade services and business facilities, positioned as a luxury lifestyle destination that underscores the aspirations of the African continent. The mixed-use development comprises two striking towers: a 148-key-four-star hotel and a nine-storey office tower, linked by a podium that houses key facilities.

These include two basement levels for car parking and plant rooms, a triple-height reception concourse, and leisure areas. The mezzanine and first-floor levels cater to guests with state-of-the-art front-of-house and recreational amenities.

At the heart of the development is a stunning nine-storey atrium, accessible via secure turnstiles from the reception concourse. This dynamic space encourages social and professional interaction among hotel guests, visitors, and office users. Adding to the green credentials, the atrium features vertical green walls designed to enhance air quality and aesthetics, contributing to the building’s potential for Green Star or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification.

The office wing of the tower is meticulously planned, with open-plan spaces on floors two through five available for commercial leasing. The sixth to ninth floors are dedicated to Afreximbank’s operations, featuring executive offices, meeting rooms, and an exclusive ninth-floor canteen with breathtaking views of the Abuja skyline.

The hotel’s public amenities, situated on the podium’s first floor, include a lounge bar, dining area, landscaped pool deck, and alfresco dining options. A wellness centre and a grand banquet hall complement the luxurious offerings. The guest rooms comprising suites, junior suites, deluxe, and standard rooms will be meticulously designed with a sophisticated blend of timber and woodwork to exude warmth and elegance.

The development’s features align with this vision, incorporating facilities for trade exhibitions, SME incubation, and cutting-edge conference spaces. The goal is to foster innovation, collaboration, and economic opportunities that connect governments, private sectors, and international investors under one roof.

Managing Partner, Ora Egbunike & Associates, Mr Cyprian Konkwo, emphasised that the AATC transcends mere infrastructure; it embodies a vision rooted in Africa’s intra-trade aspirations, “designed to become a beacon in Africa’s commercial capitals and physical representation of the continent’s drive to take control of its economic destiny,” he affirmed.

The office tower offers a total of 6,500 square meters of investment-grade open-plan space equipped with cutting-edge facilities. The central service core houses scenic lifts, fire escapes, and modern utilities, ensuring convenience and safety for tenants.

He described the project as an intentional space designed to drive synergy and creativity. “When you walk through the doors of the centre, you won’t just be entering a building, you will be stepping into a space intentionally designed to foster collaboration, spark innovation, and build bridges between the private sector, governments, and international investors,” he noted.
