Jigawa State Governor, Umar Namadi, has lost his son, Abdulwahab, in a road accident, just a day after the death of his mother, Maryam Namadi.

The accident occurred on Thursday as Abdulwahab travelled from Kafin Hausa to Dutse with friends. The vehicle he was driving reportedly lost control and overturned, sources said.

A statement from the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Hamisu Gumel, confirmed the incident.

“The governor regrets to announce the death of his son, Abdulwahab Umar Namadi, who died in a motor accident along the Dutse-Kafin-Hausa Road,” the statement read.

The 24-year-old was buried in Kafin Hausa on Thursday, in line with Islamic rites.

Friends travelling with Abdulwahab sustained injuries and are being treated at the Dutse General Hospital, officials said.

This incident follows the passing of the governor’s mother, Maryam Namadi, on Wednesday after a brief illness.
