Popular Nigerian singer Ahmedu Obiabo, aka Blackface, has revealed that 2Baba, his former bandmate in Plantashun Boiz, ignored his request for a feature on his new album.
The 51-year-old songwriter made this known in a recent interview with Television Continental (TVC).
He said, “I just released the Plantashun Boiz album now called The Return and it has about 18 to 19 tracks. Faze has a feature, but 2Baba is not on the album because he is not ready to be part of it. We already had the time to go to the studio, but they don’t want it. If somebody gives you the impression that he is not ready to do this anymore, do you keep waiting or move ahead? So I moved ahead.”

On what he aims to offer his audience in 2025, he stated, “I am not demanding anything, just my respect. I have put in so much work in this game for the people that are even benefiting from it today, for the young ones that came after. I put in a lot of work; you can’t just take me out.”
For nearly a decade, Blackface has been at odds with music icon 2Baba, constantly accusing him of taking credit for the hit song African Queen, which Blackface insists he wrote.
The saga, which began in 2015, has played out in the public eye, with Blackface often making headlines for his accusations against 2Baba.
But, after years of back-and-forth, it seems that the tides have turned. In October 2023, Blackface took a step towards reconciliation, publicly asking 2Baba to forgive him for all his past grievances, both intentional and unintentional.
He also called for Plantashun Boiz reunion in 2024.
“‘To be or not to be?’ @fazealone @official2baba @blackfacenaija @plantashunboizofficial, why not?”
“My people oya make una talk put mouth for this matter! We are on a mission for world peace and it’s not a small-time thing! Unity is strength and not division Let’s go champs,” he wrote on Instagram.
