Cable vandal electrocuted in Adamawa
An unidentified man has lost his life while attempting to vandalise electrical cables on a transformer located along Ribadu Square in Jimeta, Yola North Local Government Area, Adamawa State.
The spokesperson of the Adamawa State Police Command, SP Suleiman Nguroje, in a statement on Sunday, disclosed that the body of the deceased has been taken to the hospital for examination.
The police have launched an investigation to uncover more details related to the incident.
The statement read: “The Adamawa State Police Command, on 19th January 2025, discovered the body of an unidentified person at an electric transformer along Ribadu Square at about 6:00 AM.

The individual was attempting to vandalise some electrical cables when part of his body came in contact with live electric current, causing an electric shock and severe injuries, leaving him unconscious.”
The Adamawa State Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, has issued a stern warning to the public to stay away from electrical transformers.
He further urged residents to promptly report any suspicious activity or individuals seen loitering around such facilities to the authorities for immediate action.
The incident underscores the dangers of tampering with electrical installations and the need for heightened vigilance to protect public infrastructure.
